So I'm a little behind again. I'll post 48/52 just as soon as I have time to download the pics form my camera! I have a few posts I really need to share with you. I can't believe December is rushing away with me...I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet! Eeeeeeep.

Stanley came back as a rabbit from nursery the other day. He normally doesn't like a speck of dirt on him, so for them to paint his whole face was a pretty big deal. I think maybe because his favourite nursery worker in the whole world was doing it helped swing it for him!

Stanley, storm watcher. 

A small cheat, this picture was only taken this morning, so I guess technically from this week, not last. Anyway, who's counting, and it was too lovely not to capture. We had a howling wind last night and this morning, the worst since my memory as a child of the 1987 hurricane. It didn't seem to do much damage apart from mess up the trains, but then hey a small leaf fall can do that round here.

Just managed to squeeze in this weeks. Just 10 weeks to go! TEN WEEKS! And then he'll be three. Yikes, the days are long but the years sure are fast when you have kids.

All my initial mad mumma worries about this ones eating habits have disappeared in the last week or so - he is a champion eater and wolfed down a load of broccoli the other night like they were sweets. I think his expression is saying "why are you taking a picture of me eating you crazy woman?!"

Yet another bath shot in this portrait series. At the moment though with my work schedule it seems to be my only time with you....Book deadline in three. more. days.

Autumn has most definitely set in now, the weather is cold and the night is coming in earlier and earlier. I use to loathe indoor pictures because of the yellow light it cast, but in this one it makes me happy. It feels warm and cosy and that is something to look forward to in these winter months ahead.

A train ride and a visit yesterday to see Hattie and Johnny at the Natural History Museum. A precious day off I decided would be a good idea in my work schedule. Back to work today though....Boo Hiss.
It was lovely to see them both. The boys played occasionally well together, and had some hilarious arguments together. J: "there's a fire under the table" S: "there isn't Johnny" J: "There IS" S: "THERE ISN"T" and so it went on and on...

This photo is from last Sunday on our precious family day out. I've worked so much, too much recently, and I really wanted to get out as a family. We went to Arundel Castle and explored the Keep and the grounds. The gardens there are beautiful and Stanley enjoyed running around all of it. This week I have worked almost 65 hours. A ridiculous amount. Stanley has been with Ben, at nursery or at either set of grandparents the whole week, shipped off at 9am and returning at 6pm for me to bath him put him to bed and then work again to midnight or so. I'm exhausted and cannot wait for these deadlines to be over with. It is a good lesson though. There is such a thing as too much work a freelancer can take on. I won't do it again. I've missed this boy SO very much and that 'mum guilt' is not a nice thing. The book artwork is due in in a week and a half. I. Can. Not. Wait.

The quiet pleasures sometimes are finding a tiny hole in something and seeing if you can see through it.

From last week I loved this one, a perfect capture of an imaginary cat! And then these two boys, a perfect peekaboo, and a thoughtful black and white shot.

The first portrait of Stan with my new camera. It was fresh out of the box and I just asked S to stand still so I could test it out. He did as he was asked and this is the result, a perfect moment of stillness from him looking straight at me which is so rare. I love the light and the focus in this picture and feel pleased as punch with my choice of camera. Looking forward to playing around with it soon in more interesting environments.

Stanley: your new favourite place to sit. Sometimes snacking, sometimes pretending that you are driving a train, and sometimes just throwing yourself off!

I am missing my camera a lot and it has only been a week. It is good in a way, proving that buying another, although irritating, frustrating and expensive, it is the right thing to do. I love taking pictures so much and feel frustrated that I cannot always capture what I want through my (cracked) iphone. I'm thinking of buying a panasonic gf1. Anyone got one, or had any experience with one...from the research I've done they seem to be compact and take a good photo. I'm having a little search on ebay for them and will see what I can find. They seem to be ok value too - not breaking the bank, but capturing a decent photo for work and memories.

Stanley: from our recent holiday in France, exploring the beautiful river beach in Aubeterre. Not the one I was intending to post, but since our camera is lost/stolen from our holiday it will be iphone pictures until I can justify buying a new one. We are very sad about the camera. I am trying not to be upset about it, but it is hard when you have also lost so many great memories on there too....

On a happier note I have found a few great new-to-me blogs through this 52 project which has been so nice. This one found only this week is new(ish) and based in the Scottish Hebrides! I'm in love with her images, it paints an idyllic scene, although I'm sure things aren't good all the time... It really makes me want to explore more of the UK, and I have ridiculous dreams that I'd be happy somewhere like that....but of course I think I'm a town girl at heart. Can't wait to see what the Autumn and Winter holds for this blog. Her 52 photos were my favourite from last week. I love a bit of matchy matchy me, so these shoes and snack are a perfect pair.

Also, if anyone could recommend a not too pricey, easy to use digital SLR I'd be grateful to hear your advice!

Stanley: this seems like such a treat for you - a kitchen sink bath! Yet it is bliss for me as sometimes it is the only way I can get things done like dinner started and the house tidy. Thank goodness we bought the BIG sink!!

There have been some lovely sunset/sunlight portraits cropping up in the last few weeks. But these three are my favourite from last week.

Stanley: You are enjoying painting a lot more recently although you get frustrated that you do not yet have the skills to draw exactly what you want, preferring to stick to just drawing straight line, after straight line, after straight line.

And my favourite three from last week are this beautiful one, I have light envy again. This one for the stunning colour, and then this one for the quiet but purposeful silhouette.

From last week. This one looks like a painting. This one is just incredible, and this one is her best yet of this gorgeous boy.
